Memories from seven decades ago—my childhood in Bombay—borne of joy, challenge, and wonder—were threadbare like a well-worn tapestry.
With a weaver’s determination, I revived some of their faded hues and lost luminescence through photographs, old and new, and conversations with those in the know during visits to India from my home in Oklahoma City (since 1976), as recently as 2023.
As I trace the seven-decade arc my books are about—from the innocence of Montessori to my tumultuous adolescence to my retirement years—I invite you to step back with me on that journey that my parents prepared me for. They faced our circumstances with fortitude, thus awakening me and helping me face that world. My book, dedicated to my parents, is a long-overdue tribute.
These are heartfelt stories, a child’s viewpoint, and then some. If it lingers and resonates, please share your thoughts in reviews on Goodreads and elsewhere.
